Winter caving trip in the Þingvellir area

Explore a hidden world of the lava field between Þingvellir and Laugarvatn. Walking down into a lava cave and discovering the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past is a trip that everyone can undertake.
The Gjábakkahellir cave is a perfect example of an Icelandic lava tube and is situated in one of the most active volcano areas in the world. We climb, crawl and walk on our travel beneath the surface. Really cool trip for those that are not afraid of the dark and want to experience something totally out of the ordinary!
Available: 1st of September to 31st of November and 1st of February to 31st of April (depending on weather and snow conditions).
-If you have your own transport the meeting point is the small shop in the national park, standing on the left of the highway as you enter the national park itself, at the camping grounds.
Distance from Reykjavik: 50 km. Duration of trip: approx. 2/4 hours. Age limit: 12 years. Minimum: 2 pax. Maximum: 80 pax. Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants. Good hiking boots and gloves are recommended. We will provide for you: Headlight and a helmet. Includes: Hot chocolate. No knowledge of the sport required.
