Vik Mřrdal and the south coast
We will drive to Vik and see different kind of landscape- Mountains, beautiful waterfalls, farm area and much more. In Vik you will see wild waves; you will see the black coast, the rocks in the sea and feel the power of this place.
VÝk has developed as an important local commercial centre and service for the travel industry. VÝk is the southernmost district of Iceland, bordered by the glacial river J÷kulsß to the west and the river BlautakvÝsl to the east. Its northern border is the Mřrdalsj÷kull glacier, which caps the volcanic Mt. Katla, while its southern limits are black sands and the rolling Atlantic waves.
The district lives mainly by agriculture and has a population of 600 people, more then half of who live in the coastal village VÝk. VÝk and its surroundings is one of the main bird life areas in Iceland. Just east of VÝk does the largest colony of Arctic terns in the country, and huge colonies of puffin, kittiwake and fulmar inhabit the cliffs sheltering the village to the west? Fulmar nests in cliffs and mountain gullies all along Myrdal.
During winter we see no birds. Extremely powerful and wild area. Very popular among foreign advertisement agencies. They make many sales videos here for example for cars and perfume.
