Strait Into the Blue, Snorkeling Tour in Silfra

The Silfra fissure is one of Iceland’s best kept secrets. Silfra, which is in fact situated in the
heart of Þingvellir, the site of the world’s oldest parliament, is an otherworldly scene. The
crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you float
down with the lazy current. Wery often rated as one of the worlds top ten dive sites, the Silfra
offers up to 100 meters of underwater visibility and is located on top of the separation
between Europe and America! After an hour of snorkeling we climb out and head back to the car. Into the Blue is a relaxing trip but exotic in an environment most will only encounter in their dreams.

Bad eyesight? Since you are wearing snorkeling / dive goggles to see underwater there can be nothing in the way of the seal to keep them from filling up with water. You can not wear glasses underneath the goggles. Sorry you will have to go without them, wear eye lenses or bring your own goggles with prescription.

PLEASE NOTE: Although you don´t need to "swim" while snorkeling, we recommend that you can. The reason for that is people that can´t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You have to be comfortable with floating in water.

What is snorkeling? Participants swim in specially made dry suits through the crystal clear water. We breath through snorkles to have an unobstucted view of the landscape beneath the water level and everyone swims with fins to make things easier.
If you plan to drive and meet us in the National Park the meeting point is at the Main Information station at the camp site, after you have entered the National Park it self - see map for details.

If you want to drive and meet us on location, the meeting point is on the parking lot outside the Information Centre by the Thingvellir National Park campsite. Note: When driving from Reykjavík on road 36 you will first see a Visitor Centre and viewpoint for Þingvellir on your right hand side. This is NOT the meeting point, keep going and drive further for 5-10 min on road 36 and you will see the Information Centre on your left hand. - See map for more details.
